Urban poverty is common in developing countrie...

I took some time today to read Man Code and Revolution in World ministries today.  A few thoughts hit me that I would like to share:

I ran across this sentence:

“Our fathers were impressed with the horror that someone would die without Christ; but were equally impressed that someone would live without Christ.”

It made me rethink where I stood on my sharing.  Am I sharing for people to know Christ that they may join us in Heaven? Or should I be talking to them so that they may live in Christ and die for/with/in Christ.  I honestly think I need to reconsider my feelings.

Another really cool quote that I ran across was:

If we intend to answer mans greatest problem, his separation from from the eternal God, with rice handouts. Then we are throwing a drowning man a board rather than helping him out of the water.

There is so much to supporting someone than in just materialistic means.  Don’t get me wrong, I think its fantastic that one would want to support by giving them what they momentarily need, but ultimately that is not going to give them Eternal salvation. In other words, they may survive the day, but not live in life unless we teach of a great awakening.

So I am left rethinking my speech and actions so that I can be more effective in my ministries that I will begin to encounter!!!  This is also really exciting in the fact that our Church Rock Harbor is undergoing a theme switch where we will be checking the focus of our church.  We have a couple days of fasting and prayer that will be followed by worship to see where the Lord wants us in this master plan of His!
